The fifth edition of the UNESCO webinar series aims to exchange experiences and expertise on the measures to address the COVID-19 crisis at the global and local levels. The focus will be on the social dimensions of “leaving no one behind” and on actions taken to fight against the growing incidents of racism and discrimination.
The UNESCO webinar series aims to exchange experiences and expertise on the measures to address the COVID-19 crisis at the global and local levels. The focus will be on the social dimensions of “leaving no one behind” and on actions taken to fight against the growing incidents of racism and discrimination.
The webinar is targeting national/local policymakers and stakeholders, international and regional organizations, academics, students and NGOs. Speakers will include global experts on Ethics and Bioethics, and city authorities from UNESCO’s International Coalition of Inclusive and Sustainable Cities – ICCAR. The presentations will consist of highlights of the key ethical questions that the COVID-19 Response has raised in many countries, as well as guidance that could be considered to ensure solidarity and assistance to vulnerable populations in this difficult time.
The webinars scheduled from the month of May 2020 will focus on thematic areas that shed light on the visceral forms of discrimination that exist in our societies. This new series also seeks to unlock a deeper understanding of a number of critical issues underlying the pandemic in order to act in the present and anticipate the future.
The fifth edition of the webinar will focus on the significant efforts made by women leaders whose cities are members of the International Coalition of Inclusive and Sustainable Cities – ICCAR at the forefront of COVID-19 responses. The disproportionate impacts of the pandemic on women and girls have been exacerbated by the already existing systemic inequalities against them in societies. This webinar will discuss the initiatives that women leaders have implemented at urban level which have made considerable strides to address the multidimensional aspects and social consequences of the COVID-19 crisis through their leadership and social innovation solutions.

Politici, portatori di interessi, società civile, accademici, studenti sono chiamati a partecipare per conoscere le esperienze e le proposte degli esperti e delle città che fanno parte della Coalizione Internazionale delle Città Inclusive e Sostenibili dell’UNESCO sulle questioni etiche legate ai crescenti episodi di razzismo e discriminazione e alla necessità di assicurare solidarietà ed assistenza alla popolazione più vulnerabile.
L’incontro di domani è focalizzato sugli sforzi compiuti dalle donne leader delle città che fanno parte della Coalizione Internazionale delle Città Inclusive e Sostenibili.
