Monday 24th of February, from 10.00 to 12.00 a.m.,Opening Ceremony of the 52nd Session of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) will be held at UNESCO Headquarters.
The Opening Ceremony of IPCC-52 (with simultaneous interpretation in six languages) will be followed by a panel discussion open to the public on the theme: ‘Planet in Peril: Transforming the Course of Climate Action’ organized by UNESCO and the IPCC Secretariat. The panel (with simultaneous interpretation in English and French) will bring together eminent scientists, climate experts, youth leaders, and indigenous peoples representatives to discuss and share views on the ways and means to raise the ambition for more effective climate action and the role and contributions of science, knowledge and culture therein.
Climate change is one of the defining issues of our time, and UNESCO through its programmes in the sciences, education, culture and communication contribute to creating knowledge, educating and communicating about climate change, and to understanding the ethical implications for present and future generations.
Lunedì 24 febbraio, dalle 10.00 alle 12.00, presso la sede dell’UNESCO si terrà la cerimonia di apertura della 52a sessione del gruppo intergovernativo di esperti sui cambiamenti climatici (IPCC).
La cerimonia di apertura dell’IPCC-52 (con interpretazione simultanea in sei lingue) sarà seguita da una tavola rotonda aperta al pubblico sul tema: “Planet in Peril: Transforming the Course of Climate Action” organizzato dall’UNESCO e dal Segretariato IPCC. Il panel (con interpretazione simultanea in inglese e francese) riunirà eminenti scienziati, esperti del clima, leader giovanili e rappresentanti delle popolazioni indigene per discutere e condividere opinioni su modi e mezzi per accrescere l’ambizione di un’azione più efficace sul clima e il ruolo e contributi di scienza, conoscenza e cultura ivi contenuti.
Il cambiamento climatico è una delle questioni distintive del nostro tempo e l’UNESCO attraverso i suoi programmi nelle scienze, nell’istruzione, nella cultura e nella comunicazione contribuisce alla creazione di conoscenza, educazione e comunicazione sui cambiamenti climatici e alla comprensione delle implicazioni etiche per le generazioni presenti e future.
